People have been drawn to the tranquillity and beauty of the Kintyre peninsula for thousands of years. Legend has it that the Norwegian king Magnus had his boat dragged across the north end at Tarbert, just so he could claim Kintyre as an ‘island’.
Now, you too can experience the magic and majesty of this quiet corner of western Scotland in a choice of four holiday cottages, full of character and charm. Each is finished to a fine specification, including fully fitted kitchen or kitchenette, toilet and shower rooms and smart TV’s. We also offer free WiFi – though many guests prefer to leave the world behind as they lose themselves in the quiet charm of Kintyre.
Located in the lea of Kilchrist Castle, just three miles from the Royal Burgh of Campbeltown, Kilchrist Castle Cottages are perfectly placed for an authentic Scottish experience. With three spectacular golf courses and two world famous whisky distilleries on the doorstep, we are also just a stones’ through from the iconic islands of Gigha, Islay and Arran – just short ferry rides away. From endless empty beaches, miles of forest and moorland to Michelin starred fine dining; all is within easy reach of Kilchrist.
We offer a choice of four cosy cottages, each with their own unique charm:
Angus the largest cottage is on two floors and sleeps a family of up to five. The property includes an ancient stone spiral staircase which may not be suitable for all guests.
MacLeod is our premium unit (sorry, no pets allowed in this cottage): a single storey cottage which stands on its own creating the perfect retreat for a couple.
MacGregor is a two storey cottage for up to three people (with a sofa-bed downstairs), featuring an upstairs lounge with stunning views across the Kintyre hills.
Campbell is a cosy two-bedroom ground floor cottage for up to three people, ideal for a small family, or two friends to share.
Shanan and Tracy, our caretakers, live on site in MacDonald Cottage. They’re very friendly, helpful and will always do their best to answer any questions you might have during your stay.
