Kintyre is a beautiful and unspoilt part of west coast Scotland where rich farmlands roll down from the hills to meet the sea at beautiful, empty beaches that stretch for miles.
While it is popular with hikers and wildlife enthusiasts, whisky and gin lovers, surfers and cyclists, it never feels busy, retaining a serenity and calm that soothes the soul.
And though it may feel like a different world, it is easy to reach, via the stunning drive from Glasgow, a bracing ferry ride from the mainland, or even by plane from Glasgow Airport.
To the west lies Gigha and the Isle of Islay, famous for its smoky malts. To the east, the beautiful Isle of Arran. Take a day out by ferry, by car or on foot, with so much to explore.
Just three miles north lies the Royal Burgh of Campbeltown, with its fine dining and endless attractions, while south lies the famous Mull of Kintyre, immortalised by Paul McCartney.
Just ten minutes’ drive away, Campbeltown plays host to a huge variety of restaurants and cafes, hotels and pubs, with something for everyone from fine dining to tasty take-aways. Here are a few of our favourites:

Known locally as the ‘Wee Toon’, Campbeltown hosts an impressive array of shops selling fresh local produce, plus holiday treats such as delicious chocolate and specialist sweets.
There is a regular Farmers’ Market in Campbeltown to supplement your self-catering. Just ask our caretakers for the dates of market days.
There is also a Tesco Extra, a Co-op, a Factory Shop and a Boots in the town centre.
Visit Campbeltown Tourist Information Office, right by the harbour, for full details of everything you can do in the town and on the Kintyre peninsula beyond.
The town is home to Campbeltown Picture House, one of the oldest working cinemas in in the UK, while for the more active, Campbeltown Aqualibrium is home to a pool, a gym and a library.
The Glengyle Distillery, Campbeltown Heritage Centre and Campbeltown Museum are all well worth a visit.
With three golf courses within just a few miles Kintyre is a golfer’s haven. Courses include the famous Machrihanish Golf Club, Carradale Golf Club with panoramic views across the Kilbrannan Sound to Arran and the hidden gem of Dunaverty Golf Club on the rugged south coast

At just 30miles long and no more than 11miles wide, you’ll find everything that the Kintyre peninsula has to offer is right on your doorstep.
Explore ancient sites from the stone age and the iron age. Visit historic castles that have battled centuries of invaders. Sip a fine scotch at one of the many distilleries dotted across the landscape.
